avast! Rescue Disc…
The avast! Rescue Disc, known formerly as the avast! Bootable Antivirus & Recovery Tool (BART) CD, is a breakthrough in the field of administration tools. Designed to perform a total cleanup, it detects and removes even the worst computer virus infections - quickly and reliably - without the risk of spreading the infection any further. It also contains tools for editing registry files, as well as a tool to check and fix disk errors.
Key Features of the avast! Rescue Disc…
Antivirus & Anti-Spyware Engine – The innovative scanning engine protects against viruses, spyware, and other malicious agents.
Registry Cleaner – The registry cleaner helps locate and fix problems and correct inefficiencies in on-disk Windows NT (or later) registry data, and provides ways to recover the registry following virus attacks. It's highly configurable for various cleaning tasks.
Junk File Remover – The junk file remover finds and deletes unnecessary, space wasting files on your hard drives. It can also empty system caches, such as Temporary Internet Files and IE History. It also features very fast scanning and reliable repair of any problems found.
Data Shredder – The data shredder lets you erase sensitive files in such a way that it’s impossible to recover them, even by utilities capable of tracing and restoring deleted files.
avast! Registry Editor – The registry editor quickly scans all local hard disks and tries to locate installed operating systems (OS), along with their registry files. Found OS are presented by name and root folder, so you won’t need to know the exact location of the registry files (which are usually OS-specific). As an alternative, it’s also possible to map a specific registry file by entering its full path.
Event Viewer – The event viewer is a similar utility and UI to the original Event Log Viewer included with Windows. It allows browsing of event logs in various ways.
Services/Drivers – This helps you manage services and drivers on your system, giving you control of basic changes to their configuration (such as start-up type, etc.).
Command-Line Interpreter – The command-line interpreter is compatible with the standard command.com and cmd.exe, fully supports batch files and the XCOPY command, including all its parameters (as in the case of Windows XP). Because most Windows programs can be started in the interpreter, you can use your favorite recovery tool to restore deleted files or formatted partitions directly from the avast! Rescue Disc.
Simple Text Editor – The simple text editor is a notepad-style tool useful for viewing report files generated by avast! antivirus or to view/edit user log files (it supports both ANSI and UNICODE character sets).
avast! Rescue Disc Shell – The rescue disc presents all available programs using a simple shell, making it possible to start the program easily. It also displays the current state of the applications, license information, etc. You end your work with the avast! Rescue Disc by exiting the shell. It subsequently restarts the computer.
